Volunteering Opportunities with Quiet Waters
Good listener? Sensitive to the needs of others? Accept folks as they are but long to see them overcome their problems and live full and fulfilling lives?
If that's you and you can carve a few hours out of your busy week to draw alongside the hurting, anxious and distressed to listen and to help, one or more of these opportunities could be for you.
Quiet Waters is looking for volunteers who share their faith and vision to expand the following services:
Spiritual Care Team
responding to the needs of the human spirit when faced with trauma, ill-health, loss and sadness which can include the need for meaning, for self worth, to express oneself, for faith support or simply for a sensitive listener. The service is provided for patients, their families and carers with the support and guidance of the hospital Chaplains within the Forth Valley Hospitals and at St John's in West Lothian.
Helping people live through their grief - the painful and bewildering array of physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual responses to the death of a loved one The service is provided for the bereaved at our offices in Camelon.
Providing a listening ear, accurate information, and time to think things through in a safe, confidential and supportive environment when an unplanned pregnancy has become a crisis – service provided for distressed women and their partners within Forth Valley Royal Hospital termination clinic and at our offices in Camelon.
Supporting people through times of emotional turmoil and stress when powerful emotional responses to their situation and suicidal thoughts threatens to overwhelm them. Service is provided for those in crisis at our centre in Camelon.
We are also looking to expand our Counselling Team. If you are a diploma level counsellor wanting to work within a Christian context, or currently studing for a Diploma in Counselling and are looking for a placement we would be pleased to hear from you.
